Opening a Savings Account

counting our money

WOW, that is a lot of cash for a two year old.

We finally did it. We finally put all Allison's money in the bank. Allison gets money for her birthday from great grandma's and other people so we decided to put it away for her future. We also started a fun thing when family babysits, instead of paying a babysitter (a family member) we put money in Allison's piggy bank. That did not last too long but we hope to start it up again. Allison loves to get money and put it in her bank. So on Saturday we headed to BECU and opened her up a savings account. She thought it was so much fun to do it. They even gave her a cute bag with stuff in it and a lollipop which she enjoyed while waiting for mom to fill out the paper work. Our goal is to teach Allison how to save, give and spend money wisely. here she is depositing all her money.

Blueberry picking

Heading out to pick blueberries

Today did not start off with what I had planned. My morning started off with a warm fridge. Our fridge has been acting up. Its only 5 years old and they just came out last month to fix the freezer. I called to see if they could come out soon. The next day they could come out is Sept 2ND. On top of that I'm on my monthly cycle. When they told me Sept 2ND, I called Kyle. I told him i want a new fridge. I am tired of having to call the repair men to come out and have them only fix it for a short time. No luck on getting a new one. I then called my friend Tamara and she said I should still take Allison blueberry picking. So we packed up and headed out to the farm. I am glad I did it. We had a great time. I filled my little bucket but Allison thought it was more fun to eat them. She would even take some out of my bucket and put them in hers to eat. It was nice to get out and do something fun like that with her. Here we are together under the branches. I got down on her level and found a tone of blueberries to pick. It started to get hot and it was past lunch time so we had to go. I hope to take Allison again because she just loved it.

Soccer Time

Most of you know I love Soccer. I played soccer all through my school years and even during my 20's. This summer I had Allison signed up for soccer lessons with Lil Kickers http://www.arenasports.net/lil-kickers-schedules. It is a lot of fun because the kids get to play fun games and kick the ball into the goal. Allison took her time warming up to the idea but after a few weeks she finally enjoyed going and playing with her two buddies Skylar and Aiden. Two weeks ago we finally got her uniform and put it on. She looked so cute. I look forward to the days when we get to see her really play a game.

A Date with Friends

Last weekend I surprised Kyle on a fun date. I started it with dropping Allison off at Grandmas for the day. I then drove him to Newcastle Golf Course. Their we met Mitch Lomax the man who married us. Kyle and Mitch golfed for the day and I headed home to get some cleaning done. After a hot day of golf Allison (Mitch's Wife) and I met them back at Newcastle Golf Club and had dinner. I had never been up their but it was an amazing view of Seattle. We had a great time just eating and catching up with the Lomax family. During Dinner at sunset the Club had a bag piper play. I love hearing the music from a bag piper. I guess it bring my Irish heritage back to me. Anyways, Kyle and had the night to ourselves. Thank you Mitch and Allison for being such good friends to us and most of all staying active in our lives. We love you very much.

Hand, Foot, Mouth Disease

After returning from a pretty good weekend away, I came home to Allison being sick. Sunday night I noticed she had bites on her foot. www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/000965.htm I then asked Kyle if he saw them. He just thought she wasn't feeling well the night before. We gave her medication and thought that would help. She ended up being up every hour. Monday morning I went to brush her teeth and she screamed at me. I thought it was her teeth but then when she opened her mouth I saw blisters. I thought is this the Hand, Foot, Mouth Disease? I called the Dr that day and we got in. He said yes it was the virus and all he could do was give her some yucky numbing medication. It seemed to help but Allison continued to not sleep for about 3 more nights. I was also not feeling well so it was a rough time. By Thursday she was feeling better and getting me rest. I guess this is very common for children her age around this time of year. She has been so healthy since March or April I guess it was time for her to get sick. Poor little girl. I do not wish this on anyone. The good thing about it though is Allison only had it on her feet and in her mouth. She also has given up her car Bink's and we are working on her bed time ones. I see it as a good sign that she got the virus.

Weekend In Portland

This past weekend I had the chance to get away. I have decided to do it every year I can. This year I almost bailed on going because of every thing I was going through. I am so glad I did go. I dropped Allison off at Grandmas on Friday morning. While they headed off to a farm for some fun, I met Kyle for coffee. I then said goodbye to my husband and drove away with excitement. While I was driving I got the chance to call my old child hood friend Jennifer. Her dad Jerry passed away this year and he was like my second dad. Anyways, she also lives in Portland so I wanted to meet up with her. The drive was nice. I listened to some good music and talked to friends on the phone. When I arrived at my friend Sharlene's house she put me to work right away. We re-arranged her little studio. I like it a lot better now. We then headed to a local bar to meet Jennifer. Their we had some good appetizers and a nice cold beer and wine. That night Jennifer invited us to a BBQ at her friends house. I was a little hesitant because I don't do well around people I don't know. It ended up being fun. Sharlene loves meeting new people so she did great. She even got hit on, you go girl. I was getting tired so we headed home for the night.
Saturday we woke up and headed out to a local air show in Hillsboro OR. It was not like our Seattle one but it was still fun. We hung out with Sharlene's brother Bruce and his family. After a long day at the show we headed home and decided to hit the town. I was not feeling well, so we got a quick bite to eat and then headed back to Sharlene's place to watch a movie. I was up all night sick. Being sick was not fun when you are away from home. Sunday morning we met Jennifer for breakfast at the Everett Cafe. I had a good time seeing old friends. I love the City of Portland. It is so accessible to walk or ride a bike. If we ever move I would live there. I headed home Sunday afternoon and the traffic was horrible. I was so glad to get home to my awesome husband and lovely daughter. I missed them a lot. I will post pictures soon of my trip.

Big Girl Bed

IM A BIG GIRL NOW!

This weekend was a very laid back weekend. On Saturday I decided to put up Allison's new bed. I was so excited to get it ready. Kyle worked outside in the neighborhood so that left me and Allison to hang out. I wanted to put her bed together. I was a little nervous about doing it but it was so easy. Allison played in her crib while I put it together. Afterwards she said, "ya mommy." I almost felt single again. Like I can put any thing together w/out a mans help. I miss that and I think I need to do more of that. I put it together and then Kyle brought the mattress upstairs for us. We put all the new sheets and bed spread that Grandma Hutchison bought for her. We didn't realize that her bed was going to be so high. I guess now days you really do not need a box spring. Allison thought it was great and just wanted to jump. I had to cry a little because she is getting so big. What is a mommy to do when her little one starts growing up? And that is not all, that night we were getting ready for bed, Allison went into the bathroom and got her toothbrush already by herself. Hello, mom is not ready for all this.

My next step with Allison in about a month we will start potty training. After that we will take away the Binky at night and in the car. She is growing up too fast but I love it too. She is talking all the time and saying silly things. We can not help but just sick back and say wow, what an amazing little girl the Lord has blessed us with.
