Kyles Art Work

The picture does not do it justice. It is so good. Free art work saves me a lot of money. :)

For months now I have been looking at art work for Caleb's room. I realize when the second child comes you are not in a hurry to decorate the room. I wanted to put vintage airplanes in his room. I have found some stuff I have liked but they have not worked out for his room. One night Kyle said he would paint something for me. If you know my husband then you when know he is very talented in drawing. It comes really easy for him. So in one night he painted this little canvas for Caleb's room. Thank you honey. I totally love it and so does Caleb.

Caleb 8 months check up

Caleb just over 7 months

Allison at 8 months

Today I took Caleb into the Dr's. He has had a cough and I wanted to make sure he was not getting an ear infection. He also has a rash again on his arms. I decided to do his 8 month check up a little early. I spoke to the Dr a lot about vaccinations and Caleb's low muscle tone. He agreed that Caleb does have low muscle tone but he is not too worried because he does put weight on his legs now. Caleb is also rolling around like crazy on the floor. That made me feel at ease after seeing the physical therapist I was a little concerned but I wanted to get my Dr's opinion first. Caleb is really laid back and is in no hurry to grow up. I love that about him. :) Although he has a tone of teeth coming in. All the saliva is causing him to cough. He does not droll very often so the saliva runs down the back of this throat causing some congestion. Caleb is still in the 95% for his height and is now in the 88% for his weight. He weighs 21lbs and 4 oz. I am not sure why he is so low in his weight when he eats all the time. I think he just has his dads high metabolism. Today was great because Caleb was so exhausted that he took a 2 1/2 hour nap on his tummy. He has not napped that long in a awhile. I really don't want him to get any bigger.

After rest time today I showed Allison some pictures of when she was a baby. I really miss my little girl cuddling in my arms. Caleb does not like to cuddle but Allison does once in awhile. I just thank God every day for my two kids. I am truly blessed. What a joy they are to have.

Haiti

Haiti is on my mind. I don't watch a lot of TV but when I heard of what happened to Haiti I could not keep my eyes off the screen. The past few days I have been praying for all the people in Haiti. It breaks my heart to see children and families torn apart. I asked God the other day what can I do? I feel as though I am in a bubble since I had Caleb. I live my day to day life and I don't feel like i have much time to give of myself because I am always giving to my family. I asked God, how can I help while I am living here in my secure home? What can I do as a mom who just wants to reach out and hold all the children in Haiti? How can I show my children to reach out as well. This weekend at church Pastor Chris mentioned the organization "Children of the Nations." They have already sent one of our local members to this area. They asked if we could help put together hygiene smile packs for children. I looked over at Kyle and said "I really want to do this with Allison." As soon as we got home Allison and I looked around the house for items that were on the list. Then Kyle and Allison went to the store and bought more items to put in the gallon bags. We decided to make 4 bags from our family. This is such a small token of what we can do right now but I hope to do more in the future. Allison had so much putting the packs together. She kept talking about it all day. She even said she wanted to be a Dr so she could help people and her family. Now, I am not sure if she will do that but at least her little mind is evolving and she is learning to give back. I really hope that Kyle and I are teaching her to not only give to other's but show her this is what God's people do for everyone. My heart continues to hurt for Haiti but has hope for them all as well.

Calebs Physical Therapy

Caleb started physical therapy for his neck. When he was about 2 months old I noticed that he was very dominate on the left side. He always laid his head on the left side and he always looked on the left side. They called this congenital torticollis. Caleb did not have a severe case but he did have issues. His left side of his head became flat so that made up see a Dr at Children's hospital. They measured his head and he was between a high 1 and a low 2. The sizes are normal, 1, 2, (3-5 which you will need a helmet). They said it was our choice if we wanted Caleb to wear a helmet. Kyle and I decided to do physical therapy first to see if that would help his neck and round his head out more. I do not want him to wear a helmet for 23 hours a day. During therapy we have learned a lot about Caleb. He is a low key baby. He is not eager to be on his tummy or use any of his muscles. The physical therapist mentioned that he may have "Low muscle tone" which is also call it hypotonia. Caleb does not have hypotonia, however; he does show low muscle tone but just not as extreme as hypotonia is. The therapist can not dygonoise it so when i take Caleb to his next check up we will discuss this issue.

I am not worried about Caleb at all. He is growing fast and developing fine in my eyes. He started swimming classes last week and he loves it. He is so comfortable in the water. He just wants to splash and kick. He is completely opposite of how Allison was when we put her in the water. Caleb is also starting to roll over on his tummy more often. He is eating more solid foods and has about 4 teeth that have popped up in the last month.

Speaking of teeth. The funny thing is the teeth are not coming in as the chart says they should. Caleb has one bottom tooth, one bottom side tooth and two top side teeth in, no front teeth yet. We call him the sharp tooth savor. He is such a joy to our life.

I will post pictures of him real soon.

Swimming Lessons

drinking the water
tummy time.

Caleb started swimming lessons this month. He really loves the water. We wanted to start him early because Allison fears the water at times so we did not want Caleb to be that way. The first day he just loved it. He kicked, splashed and drank the water. He looks so cute in his little swim suite too. They even asked us to move up to the next class because they felt Caleb was so comfortable in the water. They had more room in the next class too. We decided not too because we know that he may change his mind about the water like Allison did at his age. We also decided that swimming was good for his muscle tone. It will help his muscles become stronger. Kyle has already put him under water and he has had no problem with it. Happy boy in the water.

Bath time together

We finally let Caleb and Allison take a bath together. Allison loved playing in the tub with Caleb. Although she continues to take things from him his hands. We are working on that though.
